ÜÇKUYU PRIMARY SCHOOL AND VILLAGE PUBLIC CENTER WERE INAUGURATED IN AVANOS

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the inauguration of Üçkuyu Village Public Center and Üçkuyu Primary School in the Avanos district of Nevşehir.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said during his speech at the inauguration ceremony that they have increased the education investment budget for the 2022 school year in Nevşehir to 260 million Turkish liras in order to increase the quality of education and reinforce equal opportunity in education.

Noting that the most valuable capital of Türkiye is human resources, Özer stated that the Ministry of National Education is working in an effort to increase the quality of human resources.

He said that the Ministry is giving services not only to children but also adults at the public education centers and advanced schools for girls adding that, "within this framework, we reopened closed village schools as village public centers. There has been a trend especially after the Covid-19 pandemic and people are migrating to cities from metropolitans, to districts to cities and to villages from districts. At the same time, agriculture and husbandry are as crucial as energy for our country. We are a strong country in agriculture and husbandry but we can be stronger. This is our main goal in this project. We want children to study in their own villages. From now on, village schools can be opened regardless of the number of students in any part of the country. We also decreased the quota to open preschool classrooms in village schools from 10 students to 5 students. As a result of our decision, 20,000 children in 1,800 villages immediately enrolled in preschool education. Later, we decided to reopen village primary schools and kindergartens. We also decided to open public education courses for people living in villages.  We cooperated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in order to open more than 3,000 different courses about agriculture and husbandry in villages."

Noting that they had initiated the village public centers project in Samsun and then disseminated to every part of Türkiye, Özer went on to say that the Ministry has converted 522 closed down village schools to village public centers till now and they will increase the number of these centers to 1,000 until September 12, 2022.

"Village public centers will give education and training services to both children and adults. It is a brand new model in Türkiye. People will have the opportunity to get training side by side with their children in these centers. For the first time in the history of our country, we will gather adults and children under the same roof. This movement will begin from villages. With Allah's permission, we will reopen 6,900 vacant village schools until the end of this year. We will rapidly complete the repairs," said Özer.
