PİGEP PROJECT WILL ALLOW TRANSITION FROM WARD SYSTEM TO ROOMS AND FROM BUNKS TO BEDS

Directorate General for Dormitories and Scholarship Programs affiliated to the Ministry of National Education has prepared Dormitory Improvement and Progress Project (PİGEP) with the purpose of maintaining a standard in the entire 1003 state dormitories, providing a warm home environment to students and recreation areas and allowing them to study arts and science by considering the needs of students.

Budget of the project allocated by the Presidential strategy and Budget Presidency will be 166 million liras and its duration will be three years.
 
PİGEP aims at maintaining a standard in the entire 1003 state dormitories, providing warm home environment to students and recreation areas and allowing them to study arts and science. The project also has the purpose of improving physical capacity of dormitories by considering the needs of students.
 
From wards system to rooms, from bunks to beds
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that the project was initiated with the purpose of supporting students buy offering them rich education opportunities.
 
"As a part of improvements planned in dormitories, we will change the ward system into rooms and change the bunks with beds.  Instead of metal closets, we will place two door wooden functional wardrobes in the rooms. Dormitory cafeterias will be renewed as well. We will decorate study rooms for personal and group studies. We will provide all required hygiene conditions at the dormitories," Özer said.
 
Art workshops in dormitories
Noting that their goal is to help students develop their skills and have a good time during their spare times, Özer stated, "We will open arts and music workshops for students in the dormitories. There will be different musical instruments and a small stage as well as painting materials for students."
 
Students will also have the opportunity to be involved in product development, study software, coding, patent and useful models in the science workshops which will include 3D printers and other technological products. They will also use this room for playing mind games, watching TV and enjoying quality time.
