MINISTER ÖZER VISITS TURKISH SCHOOL IN QATAR

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer visited the Turkish School in the capital city of Qatar, Doha.

Following his visit to the Turkish Embassy in Doha, Minister Özer visited the Qatar Turkish School affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. Özer received information about the school activities from school officials and chatted with teachers and students.

Noting that one of the purposes of his contacts in Doha is capacity assessment of the Qatar Turkish School, Özer stated that the Ministry will work in an effort to respond to the demands of teachers for kindergarten, music and activity classes.

Minister Özer stressed that number of kindergartens affiliated to state schools were 2,782 until August 6, 2021 and went on to say that:

"In 2022, our first goal was to open 3,000 new kindergartens and 40 thousand new preschool classrooms. The project initiated under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan began in İstanbul with the opening of 100 kindergartens. There were 147 state kindergartens in İstanbul. In five months, we have inaugurated 112 new kindergartens and 8,145 preschool classrooms. We have completed the bidding process for the construction of 264 kindergarten buildings. We have included the construction of more than 2,500 kindergarten buildings to our investment program. With the will of Allah, we will increase the preschool schooling rate among 5 year old children to 100 percent until the end of 2022," said Özer.

Minister Özer added that, "From now on, we will include teachers working in Turkish schools abroad to our school based improvement activities."
