Stating that vocational education, BİLSEMs and science high schools took important steps in the last year about intellectual property rights, Minister Özer said, "We have completed intellectual property rights training programs for administrative personnel and teachers organized in cooperation with the Turkish Patent and Brand Institution in 81 cities of the country. Moreover, we have established an intellectual property rights office as an affiliate to our Ministry in order to maintain coordination of activities carried out in 81 cities and give required support. I am happy to say that we have applied for the registration of a total of 3249 products of vocational education institutions, BİLSEMs and science high schools in the first nine months of this year and 1157 patents, useful models, designs and brands were registered.

Stressing that they want to raise awareness about intellectual property rights in secondary education institutions, Minister Özer went on to say: "We were aiming at registering at least one product of each science high school and BİLSEM. Our goal for vocational education is the registration of 250 products. We have achieved our goal in the first nine months and even exceeded by 54 percent. We gained important experience and culture about intellectual and industrial property rights in secondary schools and in our Ministry."

Minister Özer pointed out that BİLSEM students won awards in the EU Contest for Young Scientists adding that, "Our students made us proud. I sincerely congratulate them. It makes us happy to see our students make their dreams true."
